Daycare Center Home > Daycare Supplies Be prepared: Daycare supplies aplenty.Good quality daycare supplies are essential tools in running your childcare business. You will need a variety of toys, equipment and activities to make sure to help stimulate the minds, bodies and emotions of the children in your care. These days daycare centers are far more than just a child minding service. The emphasis is on child development and parents are becoming more aware and thus more demanding in this area. When you start your business you will probably spend a substantial sum of money making sure you have the correct daycare supplies Most daycare supplies are focused on helping children develop the skills they need to grow and adjust to their changing world. Then there are the more practical supplies like tables and chairs, potties and eating and drinking utensils that you will need to ensure the children are well taken care of. Daycare supplies should help to stimulate a child's physical development. For children under three you will need a cushioned area where children can safely pull themselves up, climbing and swinging equipment, crawling toys, tunnels, floor cushions, boxes, rocking toys, push/pull toys, balls, toys the child can manipulate and blocks - at the very minimum. Daycare supplies should also help to stimulate a child's tactile development. You should include a variety of items that the child can chew and feel such as soft toys with textured fabrics, interesting floor surfaces, and bubble-blowing supplies. To help stimulate their intellectual development include water play supplies, modeling clay or dough, plants and pets and items to sort and count. Other daycare supplies help children to develop classifying, ordering and spatial skills. Such items include toys that can be stacked, small safe vehicles, toys in different colors, shapes and sizes and pictures that are stimulating and eye-catching. To help the child express his creativity supply some art equipment, crayons and paper as well as music and an area for dancing. To help the child to increase his or her understanding of the outdoors and nature include a natural area such as a garden or grass as well as a digging area or sandpit. Teach your children the value of recycling - they are never too young to learn! Remember your daycare supplies should stimulate, enrich and engage the child so that their skills and abilities can grow and develop appropriately.
